Latest news from around the world

August 21, 2018

As I scroll through the pictures of the day, I’m struck by all the people who have participated in this race of trying to fight this disease.  All race, gender, age. It’s humbling to see.  This disease crosses all lines, has no boundaries.  We, along with all families and boys struggling with Duchenne, thank you for giving up your Saturday for the past 20 years and helping us raise over a $1,000,000.00 towards the end.  We will find a cure.  It’s out there~  just bubbling up to the surface.  It’s coming our way and we stand together waiting to take its hand.

Thank you for giving us the pleasure of sending $86,000.00 to Parent Project to help them lead the fight.  We are so ever grateful.

Steve, Sandy, Halle, Mitch, and Mike

2018 Sponsorship Opportunities

January 26, 2018

On August 18, 2018, the 20th Annual Mitchell’s Run Thru Rockford, a 5K Run/Walk and Kids for Kids Fun Run will take place in downtown Rockford. Proceeds from this event are donated to “Parent Project MD”, a non-profit organization dedicated to expedite viable treatments and a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD).

DMD is the most lethal form of Muscular Dystrophy, striking only boys at a very young age. One in 3,500 male children are afflicted with Duchenne MD worldwide. Mitchell Peterson, 22, of Rockford, was diagnosed with DMD shortly before his 3rd birthday. The goal of MRTR 2018 is to raise additional funding to be donated in Mitchell’s name to “Parent Project MD”.

Over the past 19 years, MRTR has included over 10,000 participants, 1,000 volunteers, and several thousand spectators, raising over $1,000,000. Mitchell’s Run Thru Rockford has been designated by Classic Race Management as “One of the Premier Running Events in West Michigan”.
